I am Aiyswarya Venkatakrishnan, I have an engineering background with a specialization in Electronics and Communication. After completing my bachelor's degree, I discovered my passion for management, which led me to pursue a Master's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Human Resource Management. Following four years of professional experience in the IT sector in India, I relocated to the United States with my husband. I then took a break from my career to raise my family and found an interest in interior design. After researching this new passion, I decided to turn it into a long-term profession. I wanted to gain professional knowledge in interior design to expand my understanding of the field. In 2020, I returned to academia and secured a place in the Master of Arts program in Interior Architecture and Design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, USA.
Throughout my coursework, I have developed various skills, including perspective sketching, creating construction document sets, hand drafting floor plans, and rendering both floor plans and 3D models using Photoshop, SketchUp, and BIM Revit. I have also had the opportunity to incorporate sustainable strategies into my projects, such as solar analysis, building orientation, fabric fire ratings, and low VOC emissions in paint products. The comprehensive research I conducted as part of my coursework focused on evidence-based design has helped me understand how to create spaces that are not only safe but also sustainable, functional, aesthetically pleasing, and compliant with building codes. I believe my projects depict the above factors and determine the spatial requirements that interplay with lighting, furniture, colors, textures, and materials through my concept. I am happy to showcase some of my best works from various projects I worked on during the course time from 2020 to 2023.
